Today's Tip - "Good Enough" Moms

I don't normally read every piece of a magazine in fact just the opposite, I usually just flip several pages at once, but for some reason, this caught my eye and I'm glad it did.
It's on the front page of this month's parents magazine.
Q&A with Alice Domar Ph.D.

Why do you believe kids do better when they have a "good enough" mom?

They need to learn that it's okay not to be great at everything. We should let our children see how we handle failure and disappointment and we should tell that sometimes it's just more important to play Trouble for the sixth time that day instead of making sure that the whole house is spotless! In general, a good mother is someone who doesn't expect perfection in either herself or her children, and who tries to balance her own needs with the needs of everyone in the family.

I thought this little tidbit of advice was worthy of passing on!

Today's Tip: Trust God

that's it - just trust Him

Proverbs 3:5-6 -- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Today's Tip - fresh flowers

I told my husband right after we got married - no more flowers. He was spending $20 per bouquet and getting them weekly. I just choose not to spend my money on that.

However, with all that's blooming these days, you're sure to find something in your yard that would look nice on your table or desk. Just keep arranging the bunch smaller and smaller as some die and when it's all gone, go pick more. This is also fun to let your kids do with you, then they take pride in seeing the pretty fresh flowers for weeks to come.

trust me - it'll cheer you up:)

Today's Tip - organizing kitchen cabinets

Has your husband or some other nice, caring individual ever tried to help you with dishes and you cringe from the sidelines as you watch them put your children's sippy cup son the shelf with the glasses?

I have - I know to some of you this sounds foreign but many of you ladies know exactly what I'm talking about.

Today I decided to do something about it - in the hopes that just maybe with layouts like this, nothing will end up in the wrong place.

I remembered seeing a child's workbench with the outline drawings of where the tools went and decided to incorporate that idea into my kitchen cabinets. I outlined where the pots go, the pans, etc and then in the circle wrote "skillets". Then in another cabinet - the pitchers, tupperware, and etc.. cabinet, I just wrote what goes where - i.e. - if you open this door, pitchers go on the bottom, large food storage containers go on the top shelf.

I like it and think it will work for the time being - until I get some other fabulous idea. It's in pencil anyway so I can change it when I decide to move things around.

Hope this helps somebody. Comment and let me know what you think :)

todays' tip....

Remember and treasure even the bad memories - they all make you who you are..

I don't encourage you to spend a lot of time dwelling in those bad memories, but embrace them as part of you.

Here, I scrapbooked a page when I was in the most pain after my surgery. It's not the most beautiful page I've ever done- LOL! but it helped me to accept where I was and find the good in it.

May you be able to do the same.

Today's Tip: getting it right :)

Do not be afraid to go back and get your transaction right, and no coupons are too small to use.

I scored some pretty good deals from Taret the other day but with four kids sometimes it gets a little razy. I threw a double package of ziploc bags in my cart because I knew I needed some and they were on clearance. However what I didn't do befor I got the the register is look for ziploc coupons.

ALWAYS LOOK FOR COUPONS!

so I did when I got home and guess what - I had a $1 off. I had to go back anyway yesterday to pick up something so I returned an "re-bought" my ziploc bags witht he coupon. The lady handed me a $1 right from the drawer and I was able to buy these cool socks with them.. Check out my new socks my coupon bought!

Pretty cool huh?
